IF: Plain

I did this little mixed media artwork in response to this weeks Illustration Friday topic "Plain." Working from a pair of photographs taken of my son and grandson playing in the snow I placed the image of the two of them within the large white plain of snow.

I love the texture of the paper, and the composition. Nice.

The paper is a beautiful, wonderful, beautiful paper my sent to me from Japan about 20 years ago. I've been hording it and only have a few sheets left. Its very wrinkled and soft yet it is very tough to tear and like mulberry you need to paint a fine line of water on the paper in order to tear it straight. I thought the wrinkles might mimic the texture of the snow drifts in the photos nicely.

I love how you did this. The paper lends itself to the feeling of snow. Great image.
